The Property
Contemporary Exclusive Use County Manor House in Norfolk
Having been carefully restored over a period of ten years, this grand Elizabethan manor house in Norfolk makes a spectacular country retreat. Follow the quiet country lanes and open the door to be greeted by a roaring log fire and an atmosphere of pure luxury and period character. In the reception room a baby grand piano sits alongside a high tech entertainment system, setting the scene of traditional elegance fused with modern creature comforts.
Also warmed by a log fire, the dining has an ornate ceiling and a long table ideal for a decadent banquet. Overlooking the walled herb garden, the contemporary stainless steel kitchen houses a Smeg range cooker and a vast range of equipment to meet every chef’s demands. Follow the grand staircase to the first floor and you will reach a long drawing room with oak panelling, huge sofas and a small library.
Two tiers of super-luxurious sleeping quarters can be made-up to accommodate adults and children. Most of the bedrooms boast superior 17th and 18th Century four-poster beds, and each room has an en suite – many of which are equipped with a roll top bath as well as a shower. One of the rooms on the second floor is reached via a private staircase, and can be made into a family suite with its extra day bed and double-ended roll top tub.
Explore the six acres of formal and informal grounds, where you will find a peaceful walled garden with a summerhouse, a fountain, a knot garden and a swimming pool (for use May to September). Beyond the lawn there is a lime-tree walk, an old moat and a wild flower meadow.
